My Thoughts Are With Texas (And Louisiana)
As Hurricane Rita approaches, my thoughts are with Texas and Louisiana. The poor people of Louisiana have seen enough devastation. They really don't need this. And generous Texas, where so many refugees from Katrina are sheltered, now the target. What a year for the Gulf states. You're in my prayers.
I was born in Galveston (long, long ago...). My mom was the first woman to give birth naturally in the hospital where I was born, and I was the product of that birth. It was ironic. Apparently, every OB and OB RN wanted to observe this unusual act. So the birthing room was filled with hospital staff, but they wouldn't let my father in. My father saw both of my brothers' births and my sister's, but not mine.
But I digress.
Texas and Texans hold a special place in my heart, and this week, I worry for them (Especially you, Lauren, John, and Ava!). Please take care.

I was the first natural birth in the hospital where I was born (Cheyenne), too. It made the doctor angry--he actually said to my mom, "You don't deliver a child! I remove it from you!"
She had a lot of people in to watch with interest, too.
My thoughts are also with the Gulf coast..
How are Lauren, John and Ava?
