Routine

As I was laying (or is it lying?) in bed last night, I was thinking about this post. I was going to write about how wonderful it has been the past week that Maura has been sleeping through the night every night. Sure, she wakes up at 5:30 or 6 am, but I don't mind that. I'm a morning person anyway, and she doses right off after a bottle. I was going to talk about how much I love that first morning nap because we take it together in our bed. I'm not into co-sleeping (there's nothing wrong with it, it's just not for me), but this little ritual we've started is sort of nice. And I love the long stretch of sleep that I get before she wakes up.

Then Maura woke up crying. I replaced her binky, and I went back to bed to drift off to sleep myself.

Until she woke up again an hour later.

I eventually warmed a bottle and fed her at her 2:00 am waking, thinking that she'll sleep a long stretch on a full tummy. Maybe she'd even sleep in late since she was up most of the night. She was up at 6:00 am this morning.

Why does it seem that everytime I get used to a sleep routine, that she seems to change it?? Do I jinx it somehow??

welcome to the never ending changing routines of parenthood! As soon as you get used to SOMETHING, it changes!
But, you know she'll start sleeping longer soon. It could be teething. maybe next time give her some tylenol first, and she might sleep better???
We go through it too. In fact, the other night it was 10 times! TEN times I got up to give him his pacifier!
But last night, not a single time??
They just like to keep us on our toes!

okay, so i know bella (asleep in my arms at the moment, so i'm typing one-handed) is only 10 (almost 11!) weeks old so i can't expect much different yet, but boy do i already know what you mean!!

i'm also like you re: the co-sleeping and often take an early morning nap with bella in bed since she often wants company at that point and will only sleep if i'm next to her, and i have to say i love those naps too (even tho she typically wiggles like crazy even in her sleep)! :)

Yes, that happens here too. The last go round of it was teething. Now that they are through the gums we're doing good again! :)

I never say I have a routine b/c as soon as I do, Delaney will go and change that for you!

I never have anything to add anymore unless I'm the first commenter. Everyone always says everything I want to say (though its usually YOU).
Yeah, no such thing as finding a groove with a baby, I think. They like to keep us on our toes.
We don't co-sleep either, but we do co-nap and I LOVE that.

Crossing my fingers for a semblance of routine for you guys.
