Update....

Well, Britches seems to be on the mend. I don't know how or why, but she's eating normally and keeping everything down. She appears to be gaining back that weight that she lost, and she's more, um, perky? I have a hard time calling her perky as she still spends most of her day sleeping, all four paws high in the air, but when she's awake, she's definitely more affectionate than she was. I still haven't been able to pill her, but it doesn't seem to matter. I'll call the vet at the end of the week to update them.

Maura is starting to settle back into her pattern again of waking once during the night. She still will only take cat-naps during the day, but at least we are getting back to the 45 minute - 1 hour kind. One day there she only slept for 20 minutes at a time. Ugh, was she a grump at the end of that day! She will occasionally wake at night when she has lost her pacifier and can't seem to fall back asleep without it. I will go in and give it to her. I don't think that it's fair to her yet to let her cry it out when the only method of self-soothing is her pacifier, and she just doesn't have the coordination yet to get it back into her mouth.

She tried peas tonight. She liked them. How cute was it to watch! I love to see her trying new things!

She's really developing at a rapid pace. She's still not rolling, but she's grabbing objects, and transferring them from one hand to another. And she's able to push up on her arms during tummy time. Oh, and she's reaching for and playing with toys during tummy time, too. The rolling will come soon, I bet!

I went to a Ladies' Night last week. My neighbor invited me. There are a bunch of moms who get together one night a month. They are a great group, and I had a lot of fun. I'm proud to say that I never called home to see how things were going. And I'm proud of dh and his parents for how well they did with Maura. She apparently cried herself to sleep, but dh got her to sleep, and that's something! I hope to join this group every month.

And then there was the flood. We woke up Friday morning to find 3 inches of water in our basement. I just felt sick to my stomach over it. A brand new house, and we already had a flood in the basement. The worst of it was that almost all of our problems could have been prevented. The builder will be very lucky if we don't sue over all of this. Fortunately, we still have some of our settlement in escrow. So until everything is taken care of, he doesn't get the last of his money. I hope that they fix thing quickly, too. I hear that whatever is left of hurricane Dennis should be coming through later this week.

So, in a nutshell, this has all been keeping me from checking in as often as I'd like. I know, "excuses, excuses!" I promise to be a better bloggerfriend in the near future!! Besides, I have a lot to tell you about my in-laws...have I mentioned that I love my in-laws??? ; )
