A New Sista and a Question
Through Kether's blog, I've recently read the blog of Kari. Kari just found out that she's miscarrying. Please go over and show support for our new Sista. If she's like I was, she needs to know that she's not alone--that there are women who understand.
My heart is absolutely breaking for her. Her post brought back so many of my own memories and emotions. Feelings that I thought were buried and gone are resurfacing. I'm so sad for her. I'm so angry that any of us have to go through this. Again, I question, why does this happen? I wish that I understood. I wish that something could be done to prevent miscarriage. I wish that there were something that I could say to Kari that would help. My heart breaks a little every time I hear of another loss.
Kari--If you've found my blog through your comments, I must warn you. My posts these days are mostly about my new daughter. If you go back to the early posts, you will find what I wrote after my miscarriages. I hope that some of it can help.

Maura has been eating cereal in the evenings, and we just introduced peas (and she likes them!). In the morning, I breastfeed when she wakes up. This used to be enough. She was satisfied until her bottle two hours later. However, yesterday and today, she wasn't satisfied. This morning, I gave her a bottle right after she breastfed, and she ate another three ounces of formula. She has also recently increased her formula intake throughout the day from 3-4 ounces a bottle to 5-6 ounces. When I breastfeed overnight, she seems satisfied.
So here's my question. Should I just wean completely and only offer her bottles or should I offer her cereal after breastfeeding in the morning. Her pediatrician said that we can't start fruit until we've tried all of the veggies one at a time. But I guess that I could give her cereal in the morning? I still seem to be producing milk, she just wants more.
Ok, maybe I just answered my own question, but what do you think??

Yes, I think you answered your own question ;)
You could give her cereal in the morning too, I'm sure that would help satisfy her. Delaney gets cereal with fruit in the morning as well as at night, and she does great with that. She gets her veggie around lunch time.
All peds are so different. Ours had us start with cereal and fruit BEFORE veggie...
Hey! I've bee MIA for awhile...darn those kids for interfering with my blogging time. ;)
I read Kari's site a few days ago...bawled.my.eyes.out.
Also, as to the breastfeeding thing, if you're enjoying and want to continue that bonding time, go for it and supplement. Two words of advice if you do stop completely...cabbage leaves. They worked for me and I hope they will for you too! :)
Yup, I think cereal after the breastfeeding in the morning sounds great. You could give her a veggie in the morning too. Babies aren't programmed to have "breakfast foods" in the morning so you can feed her anything you feel comfortable with.
That whole not starting fruits because they are sweet is kind of silly since her first "food" was breastmilk and breastmilk is sweet. I would mix her some cereal in the morning (and maybe put some fruit in it).
