Babble babble babble

Thank you all so much for your support and encouragement!! I feel so much better after venting a little, and reading all of your comments. I really don't know how I'd get through some of this stuff without my community of sistas!!

So much is happening!!

My parents are driving up today or tomorrow with a van full of baby shower gifts! I can't wait to get all of that stuff set up and washed, etc. By the end of the weekend, the Pack-n-Play should be set up (that will be Charm's crib until the house is finished), the tiny clothes should be washed and put away, and the diaper-changing-station should be set up and fully stocked. Dh is certainly in for a shock!!

Saturday, we'll go see the house. Mom and Dad haven't seen it yet at all, and we haven't seen it in a few weeks. I hope that they've gotten a lot done! After that, we'll all go look at baby furniture. I want to at least have something picked out soon so that we don't have to go when I'm really huge or while carrying around a newborn. The store is 45 minutes away--I want to avoid those long trips for a while!!I also don't want to put it off until we have to start packing up to move again!!

Charm is doing all kinds of cool tricks these days. I have a really talented kid in there. I mean, not very many children actually learn how to do cartwheels in utero! the other day, I was feeling awful. I just couldn't get comfortable. Well, I figured out, after a while, that Charm was apparently laying sideways. You could even tell by looking at my tummy!! I saw it in the mirror, and then I showed dh--I was very w-i-d-e!! It was so funny!! Fortunately, Charm did move. Actually, he/she has changed positions several times since. I think that we are back at head down, now, but I really don't know.

Charm gets hiccups 4-5 times a day now. Poor thing. That can't be comfortable! And they last for several minutes!! It's pretty cool to know that he/she is practicing his/her breathing, though. Maybe that means that he/she will be a good studier, always prepared. I hope that he/she takes after his/her Daddy that way!!

So I think that I have just about everything gathered that I need for this little one. Now I just have to clean, launder, organize, and pack. Oh, we do have an important box to find. I hope that DH and DF can do that this weekend, too. When we moved into the apartment, the only box marked BABY was accidentally put into the garage with the storage. Now that wouldn't be too big of a deal, except that the garage is packed floor to ceiling with furniture, lawn equipment, and boxes. That baby box has the outfit that Charm is supposed to wear home from the hospital, the baby blanket that I crocheted, and the shower gifts that we received in CT. I need that box before the birth. Oh, I hope that they can find it.

Ok, I'm babbling. As you can see, my thoughts are barely organized these days. They just run through my head in random order.

Ok, a topic for discussion: sling vs. front carrier--I can't decide, and may just buy both. Any thoughts??

I had a front carrier with Chip. A Baby Bjorn which was great, but I was never able to figure out how the heck to nurse him while he was in it. It was just too confusing. Oh and there have also been studies done that it's not good for their spines to be in that kind of position so early on. So after talking to alot of sling afficianados I found out for a new born the best kind of sling for a newborn is the non adjustable pouch style sling. I ended up ordering one from this lady who is a wahm mom who sells them on ebay. I got a great deal and I can't wait to get it. She makes them custom for your measurements and it takes her 2 weeks to get them to you. Which ain't bad at all!!! Here's a link to what all she has on ebay that hasn't been bought yet. http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZcherubscheeks
Keep an eye on it .. the items change as she adds more stuff. Oh and her's were the best prices I found on the reversable slings. Some other sites to check out are www.hotslings.com (where Jen got her sling for Miles) and http://www.lovelymama.com/home.html oh and this one is another one with good pricing http://www.booparapture.com/rappas1.htm

Hope this helps!!!

I have heard good things about the baby bjorn front carrier. I have a friend who used it and swears by it. She was actually able to get things done with baby in papoose. I would love to see some house pics. It is so exciting and stressful building. I am so glad all is well.

We had gotten the front carrier literally ten minutes before my water broke. =)We figure he knew that was the last thing on our list to get.
While I was in the hospital, we decided not to use the front carrier until he can hold his head up on his own, so we got a sling. I'll let you know how that goes.
I hope you find that box! It was so wonderful taking Liam home in his special going home outfit.
Thinking of you as your days draw closer. I can't wait!

So glad you're feeling better, and still want to write more to you about it all...I feel like a dead-beat friend these days! I'm sending you big (((hugs))) and so wish we could get together for another lunch/dinner. I wish I had known you are only an hour from Baltimore...it would have been SO great to see you. As for the carrier thing, we researched both and decided on a Baby Bjorn front carrier, the multi-position kind with the lumbar support (since I have tendecies for back issues). My mom is getting a sling, though, so I'll have that as an option when we're there and to try out (she can't wait to use it). :) Let us know what you decide...
