Appointment update...

First, thank you all for sharing your experiences and thoughts on birthing classes. You are pretty much confirming my original thoughts. I'll take the tour with of the birthing center at the hospital. As far as determining pain control, I'm sure that dh can help me explore my options since he will be practicing at the hospital that I'm delivering at.

Ok, onto the news of the day.

I had my 28 weeks appointment today (a little early, but with the move in two days, I figured better a week early than two or three weeks late!!). Heartrate great, lots of movement, measurements right on target, BP low (normal for me), and weight on target. I passed the gestational diabetes test from earlier in the week, and my blood count was good. So I'm not anemic. I guess that the fatigue is simply from all of the activity going on right now.

I got a copy on my chart to bring with me to my new OB in PA. I asked the nurse to be sure that any mention of gender in the u/s report be omitted. I read through my chart over lunch. I had to laugh when I read the radiology report from the u/s. It's a good thing that we wanted a surprise, because Charm apparently wouldn't reveal anything! I feel this baby and I are keeping a big secret from the rest of the world, conspiring with each other! I have to grin...

Tomorrow is a big day for dh. It is his last day at the hospital. The department will throw a big party for him. I'm looking forward to going. It's always weird to go to a hospital function, though. Everyone their knows who I am, even if just from the picture on dh's desk. Most of them know me by name. But I don't know many of them! So it's one of those things, where you just smile and nod at what people are saying. Then I grill dh on who everyone was! Anyway, it will be hard for dh to say goodbye. So I feel for him.

He will also be getting blood drawn for his first HCV test. I've read mixed reports on this one. Some sites say that it is very accurate. Other sites talk about the high rate of false positives. And there's always a possibility of a false negative, too, as the virus may not show up in his system for a while. So I imagine that dh will be on edge for a while. I pray that the results come quickly and are negative.

So, I'm disconnecting the computer this evening. I was going to do it this afternoon, but I can't seem to move away from the keyboard! I hope to be hooked up again sometime next week, but I don't know if I will be able to update until after the Holidays. I will be checking email, so comment often! I will also be checking up on all of you. Jennifer, Kether, I have special Holiday wishes for you. I wish easy labor, and beautiful, healthy babies! Kether, I know that you are only 36 weeks, but with your recent cramping and back pain, I thought I'd make my wish for you a little early, just in case...

Love and Hugs to all....

Best wishes, Christine! I hope the move goes smoothly and you have a wonderful holiday with your family! Good luck to Paul, too, on his test. I know he will be worried for a while, but I'm hoping he will get negative results and it will ease his mind a bit.

Hope all is going well with the move and with DH's test. As a PA resident, I thought I'd give you a few morsels of info that they don't tell you before you move into the state. First, make sure you know where you're going before you leave the house. PA's Dept of Transportation doesn't believe in street signs. There are probably more of them in CT than there are in PA. Second, if there's snow or a threat of snow, stay away from the grocery store. Everyone will be there buying bread, milk and eggs. Everyone thinks that 2" of snow will make them shut-ins for a month. Last on the list of must-knows, the PA left. If you are first in the line of people making a left turn and waiting for a green light, when the light turns green, you get to go. Oncoming traffic waits for you to turn in front of them, even if you don't have a turning arrow. Granted, there are some people who ignore this unwritten rule so don't just go barreling into the intersection but its pretty common.

Have a great holiday!

Glad everything is good with Charm!

We already miss you and you just moved. Get back online soon, ok? I hope everything is going smoothly and I hope you have a wonderful holiday.

Too funny that Charm would not have cooperated anyway! The two of you are in a big conspiracy together!
