It's been a while since I've done this....
13. First I'll start off by saying that I love old names. My baby will have a name that's been in our families for generations, or at least a version of them. I love tradition. And I think that giving a child a family name not only gives them a community to identify with, but gives them character. And the uglier the name, the more the character, right? So, I have a lot a of character. My middle name is Agnes. After my grandmother who died shortly before my birth. I bet she had character, too. At least my parents had enough sense to make that my middle name. And just think, when I am an old lady, it will be considered a cool name among my peers. Right?
14. I have a huge scar on my right knee. It happened when I was like, three years old. We had just moved into our house, and Mom and Dad were unpacking. My older brother, then seven, was recycling the boxes to make a fort in our basement. His job, before building our fort, was to remove the huge metal staples that were in every box. Well, he missed one. I found it as I was crawling out of the fort. I can't remember now, but I imagine that hurt. So, my older brother, and protector decided to carry me upstairs to my parents, because they apparently didn't hear me screaming. A few steps up, he dropped me. Explains a lot, doesn't it?? Hee hee, just kidding. I don't remember that hurting. I do remember sitting in the kitchen while my mom was on the phone with the pediatrician deciding whether they should take me into the ER for stitches. They decided not to, and now I have a monster scar. It adds more character.
15. I've never had a cavity or a broken bone of any sort.
16. I started wearing glasses when I was seven years old. I looked like such a geek trying to be all Sally-Jesse-Raphael as I was growing up! Those frames that were popular back then really were horrible!
17. Now I have 20/20 vision. I had Lasik surgery in 2002. It was the best thing that I've ever done for myself. Before the surgery, my vision was somewhere around 20/400, so it was a HUGE improvement. Loved it, loved it, loved it! But for some reason I miss having cool and wacky glasses. They really can be a fun fashion accessory! (Too bad I didn't learn that in the 80s!!)
18. My first crush was on Davy Jones from the Monkees. I'm still a huge fan. I actually got to meet him, too. I washed their towels when I worked in Wardrobe at Six Flags. I remember having dreams about him as a little kid. It's weird, I've always liked short guys!!

Christine, I love when you do this!!! (I might have to borrow the idea for my blog!) Anyway, my first pg (if a girl) was going to be Beatrice. I doubt I will ever use that name, but I too love "old lady" names! Take care, Cara A
Hey Christine! I love reading your list, especially because I keep finding we have more and more in common! Its funny you mention family names. My cousin had a little girl in March and we were "helping" her come up with names (she had been pretty much decided on Molly) but my grandmother's name was Marguerite. It came up in conversation that she could be called Maggie. I just think that is so cute! Anyway, the other things we have in common... crush on Davy Jones (eek!), I've worn glasses-- even a pairs like Sally Jesse and Becca on Life Goes On (remember??), nor have I had a cavity or broken bone! I may have to steal this idea too.... its fun getting to know people!
Christine, I love to read your lists!

You're glasses comment had me literally cracking up!
I'm jealous if your lasik! I'd love to do it someday if we ever have the money!
WOW! NO cavities! I too haven't broken any bones, lets hope we stay that way!
I always wanted to growing up, didn't you? I'd see the casts and just wonder what it was like! Boy was I dumb! hee hee!
I love these lists! What a great way to get to know a person!
I had some of those awful glasses myself when I was 10... No sense of style then. I wear contacts now, but I did have a nice pair of glasses last year that I wore quite a bit until my dog ate the frames. No lie!
And I like Davey Jones, too! LOVE the accent!! :)
Christine - I too am jealous of the Lasik. My DH had it done almost two years ago. My eyes keep changing so I was not a good candidate. He is always rubbing it in my face as I can't even see the clock next to my bed!
As far as family names, I to love them DS middle name is Richard (his fathers name) I want to use Lillian (my paternal grandmother)& for a boy some how Don. My dad is Donald & my maternal grandfather was Donovan. We also thought about Logan, MIL madien name.
I love reading your lists too :)
My middle name is (was) Alice - after my grandmother. Seems to be a common theme, huh? :)
