Awww, poor, scared Dh...
I decided to surprise Dh the other day with something special for the baby. I feel so bad for him sometimes because he hasn't been able to connect with Charm the way that I have. Dh is always trying to feel the baby move and so forth. So I thought I'd give him a little surprise.
I went to the website for his Alma Mater and found the bookstore. I bought a little bitty hat with the name of his university on it and a crib mobile with little bulldogs (the mascot) hanging from it with university sweaters on. It's so cute!! Anyway, I thought that dh would love my enthusiasm and hopefully feel a little more of a connection with our little one.
The box arrived yesterday while dh was home from work. I was so excited! So I opened the box and showed Dh our little treasures for Baby. Dh watched and stayed very quiet. I asked with a big grin on my face, "So, what do you think??" Dh replies, "I'm scared. You scared me, and I think that I need to go for a walk for a while."
Hee hee hee hee hee! Oh, poor dh!! It's hard when reality smacks you in the face like that!!! I honestly did not mean to frighten my husband, but I have to admit, that I enjoyed watching him! Poor guy!! I guess he needs to be introduced to this in smaller doses, huh?! Well, I'm glad that I found this out now, rather than in the delivery room!!
I told him later that I really bought the hat and toy for the cats......yeah, RIGHT!!!
Ok, now I have a quick question for the "Been There Done That Moms" out there--I haven't felt the baby move much in the last day or so. I woke up over night thinking that I was feeling the baby, but not much other than that. I heard the heartbeat yesterday, so I'm assuming that all is still well. Maybe Charm has just moved to an area where I'm not quite as sensitive as before. Have any of you experienced this early on? You can feel the baby move for days, and then not so much? You know that there is always Uncertainty lurking in the corner of my mind. Tell me your stories of feeling your babies moving. Thank you!

Aww Christine I love that you bought something for the baby! As far as DH goes, they have no idea do they. Wait until he starts seeing your baby move. I can remember sitting at my DH grandparents & everyone starring at me & I am like "what?" They were looking at the baby trying to poke out. I looked possessed.
As far as feeling the baby all the time, No I didn't it would go in streaks. For me at the end DS must of had night & day mixed up because he would keep me up all night kicking around & then during the day when I wanted to share this he wouldn't move! It is totally normal, try not to let that uncertainity get to you. (easier said than done I know)
O.k. I am going to try this again. I posted once so I thought but it didn't show. I wanted to tell you I think it was so cute the way you gave DH a reality check. Just wait until he SEES the little charm moving. I remember a time we were with a group at DH grandparents & everyone was just staring at me (my stomach 8 months pg)I was like "What?" & as I looked down you could see parts of my enormous belly being poked out here & there. DS would go a day or so with out moving through out the whole pg. At the end the little guy must of had his nights & days mixed up because he would keep me awake all night with kicks & punches. It is normal not to move all the time, I think they spend lots of time sleeping too. Try not to let the uncertainty get to you! (I know that is easier said than done.)
Christine-
aww that is so cute that you bought that for the baby.
as far as the baby moving, wow, I can't believe you already can feel it. I couldn't feel Samantha tell way after 20 weeks. If you can't really feel much right now that is ok, the baby is still so tiny that it is really hard to feel any movements. But give it a couple more weeks and you wont get any time without feeling your little charm kick you and stick his or her feet out of your side, or feel him/her all up in your ribs!! oh sweety, the best is yet to come!! and I am so excited for you to experience all that!!
Finally darned blogger let me comment!
Anyway, I'm not a BTDT, but I have experienced the "down" days of movement. Also this last few weeks I no longer had the tickly, fluttery movement feeling and turns out the baby had moved to a different place (he was just left of my belly button for the longest time! now he's smack in the middle, probably because he's gotten so big). Anyway, now there are new feelings unlike the fluttery ones.
I freak out when I don't feel him. But I've found that drinking something cold and laying on my side makes him squirm.
Funny about your dh. He'll wrap his mind around it eventually.
